Planning a room transformation? There is nothing worse than running out of paper halfway through a wall, or ending up with five extra rolls you can’t return.

This Wallpaper Roll Calculator takes the guesswork out of your project. By accounting for your specific wall dimensions and the unique size of your chosen paper, we help you order with confidence.

How to Use This Wallpaper Calculator

  1. Choose Your Unit: Toggle between Metric (m) or Imperial (ft) at the top of the card to match your measurements.
  2. Measure Your Space: Enter the total Wall Height and Total Wall Width of the area you plan to cover.
    • Note: If wallpapering multiple walls, add the widths together.
  3. Check Your Paper: Look at the label on your wallpaper sample or online description. Enter the Roll Width and Roll Length (defaults are set to standard sizes, but specialty papers vary).
  4. Adjust for Waste: Use the Pattern Match & Waste slider.
    • 0-10%: For plain papers with no pattern match.
    • 15-20%: Recommended for standard patterns (straight or random match).
    • 25%+: For large scale patterns or “drop match” papers where more trimming is required.
  5. Calculate: Click the button to see the estimated number of rolls required.

⚠️ Important Notes & Limitations

  • This is an Estimate: This wallpaper estimator provides a mathematical calculation based on total surface area. It assumes a standard hanging method.
  • Doors and Windows: We recommend measuring the full wall width, including doors and windows. Treating these as solid walls provides a necessary safety buffer for trimming and mistakes.
  • Batch Numbers: Always ensure every roll you buy has the same Batch Number or Dye Lot Code. Slight color variations can occur between batches.

The “Plus One” Rule

Even if the calculator says you need exactly 4 rolls, we strongly recommend purchasing one extra roll.

Why? Future repairs (like a scratched section or water damage) are impossible if that specific print batch is discontinued. Having a spare roll in the back of your closet is the cheapest insurance for your beautiful new walls.
